Food Sourcing Manager

Job purpose

To research, cultivate and manage relationships with the food industry;
To actively and daily manage the acceptance and logistics of inbound food donations;
To identify new leads and potential new markets for increasing donations in line with Feeding Hong Kong’s strategic objectives and plans.
Key responsibilities

Develop and manage relationships with Feeding Hong Kong’s food industry partners including farms, manufacturers, distributors, caterers and retailers;
Source and confirm surplus product donations and pro-bono services including ambient, chilled and frozen foods, non-food items and logistics opportunities;
Liaise with donors to meet all food safety requirements and ensure best practices in food handling;
Coordinate with the Feeding Hong Kong Operations team to confirm inbound transportation logistics and interim storage;
Initiate and develop innovative partnerships that address food supply chain challenges;
Create and implement strategic business plans for increasing the volume and variety of food donations handled by Feeding Hong Kong;
Update and maintain donor records, and monitor, manage and evaluate against agreed key performance indicators;
Support internal and external communications and marketing related to food resourcing;
Attend conferences, meetings, and industry events as needed.
Experience, skills and knowledge

General:

Food industry, supply chain, warehouse, transportation or comparable experience in food-related business environment;
Minimum five years business development, account management, sales, marketing or comparable experience;
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications or related field;
Strong computer skills in a Microsoft Office environment.
Experience of:

Identifying opportunities and establishing win-win relationships;
Establishing and executing sound business practices including planning, budgeting and analysis;
Managing relationships with food producers, manufacturers, distributors, caterers, retailers and/or logistics companies strongly desired;
Warehouse and inventory management or related experience a plus.
Able to:

Apply an innovative, creative and entrepreneurial approach to overcome challenges;
Confidently seek and request donations;
Examine and interpret a wide variety of information and make recommendations or decisions;
Effectively communicate and contribute across different stakeholder groups.
Knowledge of:

Written and spoken Cantonese and English (fluency in both);
Food safety and nutrition desirable;
Salesforce or other CRM systems a plus.
